Using Crack-Stix® with a handheld plumber's torch is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to quickly repair concrete pavement cracks. Even though it requires a small flame, it can easily be performed by a DIY homeowner, small business owner or property maintenance professional with little or no experience.
If you have joints or cracks between 1/4" to 1/2" (6.35-12.7mm) in diameter, Crack-Stix® can help you fill them up. You can even use it for smaller cracks as small as 1/8" (3.17mm)! This product meets or exceeds the ASTM C920-11 Standard Specifications for Elastomeric Joint Sealant and is suitable for pedestrian and vehicular traffic areas.
Crack-Stix® is a hot applied direct heat, gray, "rope-like" filler that bonds to sidewalls and can be stretched to narrow or double over for larger cracks. You can paint over it with either latex paint, masonry waterproofing paint or 2 component high solids epoxy. It is also chlorine resistant, making it perfect for pool deck concrete joints. Plus, it has no VOC's, which is great for the environment and it can be applied to both asphalt or concrete. It is easy to use and perfect for a driveway or small parking lot. Gray in color, this product is perfect for filling cracks in concrete.
With 225ft (68.5M) of Small 1/4" Gray Crack-Stix®, you can be traffic-ready in just 20 minutes. It prevents slip, trip, and fall accidents and can be used immediately with its melt-away wrapper. However, if the concrete is cold, we recommend pre-warming it. To speed up the application, you can use our CSX-900 Cane Torch extender or the walk-behind CSX-1000 Pro-Melt Torch.
If you are not using our recommended torch and are using just a handheld torch, it can be difficult to keep the torch upright (or it may flame out), so you may want to find a BURNER WAND which will keep the flame running. For deep cracks or joints, it's best to fill the crack using backer rod, sand or stone dust but leave enough room for the product.
Crack-Stix® in Small is a gray solid "rope" in 1/4" thickness. It is an elastomeric, self-leveling sealant that liquefies quickly and can be used in concrete and asphalt pavements. It exhibits superior low-temperature ductility, weather resistance, low oxidation breakdown, and is non-tracking. It is the only sealant available designed to be inserted into the crack or joint cavity first and then melted with direct heat process. The patented modifier system contained in Crack-Stix® allows the material to withstand direct heat without experiencing degradation.
