Description
Asphalt Tack Cote Binder and Primer For Preparation Of New Asphalt And Asphalt Patches Using our BIG A Tack-Cote for pothole patching will ensure that the new asphalt patch material will bond to the existing oxidized surface. It also works excellent as a surface bonding agent when using our Big A Alligator Asphalt Patch Application: Stir well at a low speed or by hand after opening. Always add water to tack NOT tack to water. Adding tack to water may cause asphalt to separate or break. Dilution: Dilutions come as ratios, for example 4:1. What this means is for every 4 parts of one thing, you add 1 part of the other, equaling a total of 5 parts. Breaking this down to measurable units, let's say each part is 1 gallon. So, for a ratio of 4:1, you would add 1 gallon of tack to a five gallon bucket, then add 4 gallons of water. (4:1) giving you a total of 5 gallons of material.
- Primer for Sealcoating: 5-6 parts water to 1 part tack for newer asphalt; 3-4 parts water to 1 part tack for older asphalt
- Primer for Alligator Patch: 2 parts water to 1 part tack
- Primer for Hot or Cold Mix Patching: Use as is
- Absolute Max Dilution: 6 parts water to 1 part tack
As a bottom coat or Primer, the tack will be ready for the next layer when it has become tacky and does not leave residue on your finger when touching. Actual dry times will vary depending on ambient temperature, humidity, wind conditions and the ratio mixed. The less water added the faster (Tack Kote) will dry. This can be as little as 10 minutes up to 1 hour.
