Applying a tack coat to your asphalt pavement before installing the TechniSoil 5-Year pothole patch or TrowelPave SpeedSet, will help extend the life of the repair.
Tack coats are designed to create a fresh, sticky bond between the existing pavement and the new pavement repair. Think of it like a glue that bonds two things together.
The TechniSoil Tack Coat ships in a 38oz container which is slightly more than 1 quart (32oz), and will easily cover 2 - 3 square feet of asphalt pavement. Coverage depends on how rough the existing pavement is and how thick you put it down.
Tack coat can be applied with a squeegee or small roller. Simply pour the tack over the area to be repaired and evenly spread it out. If you're fixing potholes, make sure to evenly cover the walls of the hole.
